CORESafety TV: October 2019
Dangers of Hearing Loss in Mining And What You Can Do
Welcome to the October edition of CORESafety TV — the online video program from the National Mining Association.
Nearly 1 out of 4 mining workers experience job-related hearing loss, according to a recent study released by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).
Researchers analyzed 1.9 million U.S. workers’ audiogram results from 2006 to 2015.
Included in those results were 9,389 workers employed in mining operations.
In this episode of CORESafety TV, we dig a little deeper into the NIOSH study and recommend safety precautions that miners and managers should take to prevent hearing loss.
