CORESafety TV: November 2019
The Importance of Underground Communications and
Electronic Tracking in Mining
Welcome to the November edition of CORESafety TV — the online video program from the National Mining Association.
In 2006, the Mine Improvement and New Emergency Response (MINER) Act was passed as the direct result of three major underground mining accidents in the U.S.
One of its requirements is for mining operations to provide wireless two-way communications and location information between underground workers and surface personnel following an underground accident.
In this episode of CORESafety TV, we look at the MINER Act document and explore some of today’s communication platforms, technologies, and applications.
You’ll also learn more about:
- Unified Critical Communications (UCC)
- The business outcomes that can result from using UCC
- Communications in CORESafety Modules #6, #8 and #12
Please take a few minutes to watch this episode and then share it with your management team and workforce.
