Welcome to the July edition of CORESafety TV — the online video program from the National Mining Association. Mine rescue contests are designed to sharpen the skills and test the knowledge of team members who might be faced one day with potential mining emergencies. Each team is presented with hypothetical problems and challenges; they must solve them while being timed and observed by judges. The contests are held in many states nationwide and are usually scheduled most often in the spring and summer months.
