When it comes to safety in mining operations, it’s critical to always follow the outlined work procedures and to always have the proper permits in hand. 

Essentially, we’re talking about integrating safety and health into operations and maintenance. 

There are three steps that you should follow:

• Organize and conduct work in a predictable manner 
• Specify ways to carry out an activity or process 
• Use more controlled procedures for high-risk activities or processes, or those that require a permit
